Scott Hamel – Owner

I was born and raised in Anaconda, Montana. I’m fortunate to have been raised by incredible parents. My mom was ruler of our home and taught me the value of family. My dad worked in construction and taught me the value of hard work. Together, they taught me I could accomplish anything. So at 19 years old, I came to the valley with a beat up car, a small trailer of belongings and dreams of doing great things. I spent the first couple years working for an architectural firm doing city submittals, field red lines and drafting plot plots on the side. Eventually; drawing plot plans to supplement my income, turned into a full-time job and I left the architectural firm. I was working out of my home; doing everything by hand. I had a drafting table, a printer, an answering machine and a wealth of determination! My days started at 3am and ended when the last plans were delivered or picked up by the superintendent. I built personal relationships with many builders in the valley, discovering what they needed, and gradually expanded my services. Finally, in the early 1990’s, Precision Drafting & Design was born. Shortly thereafter, Precision Design & Development was also created and I began designing custom homes for private clients.

After the economic downturn in 2008, things were tough, but I was resolved to uphold my commitment to my clients. Precision Drafting reorganized; going through a branding change and in 2012, became Definitive Design Group, Inc. I have an exceptional Team, which has been with me now for several years and together we are bringing Definitive back to the top of our industry.
